Hiring fees for portable system: By arrangement - depending on a variety of factors, e.g. type of equipment and number of headsets requested, specific client requirements, nature of venue, with or without interpreter / guide, location & possible transportation, daytime / evening / week-end use, availability at the time, volume of work, etc.
Insuring the equipment: It is the responsibility of the ‘third party' - i.e. the person or organisation paying for the hire - to compensate the company for any losses or damages to the equipment and for any headsets not returned at the end of the agreed hiring period. The cost for each headset lost / stolen / not returned will vary between £75.00 and £350.00 per set, depending on its type and age, plus an additional 10.00% interest on that sum for each week which the company will have to wait for that owed sum of money to be paid, following the day when the headset went missing. It is then up to the third party to decide whether or not to draw out an insurance cover, to face such a possible payment. There is no reason why any headsets should be lost or damaged, provided they are used in strict accordance with the instructions provided by the company, and from ensuring that your event is held under controlled conditions in a responsible envirnoment.
Every interpreter sent out by our company with whichever equipment belonging to our company, will have received appropriate technical training by the company, to be able to deal with the equipment professionally, confidently and competently. Similarly, every item of equipment supplied by our company will have been approriately maintained, fully charged, and regularly checked to ensure its functionality and operationality, in readines to be used according to the requirements of the paying client
Travel expenses: Depending on the stability of vehicle fuel costs, the current travelling costs (June '07) will be no more than £0.40p per mile (we have not raised this rate since January '05). Depending on a variety of factors, an additional fee is charged on travelling time, at a rate not currently exceeding £5.00 per hour.
Guidelines for bilingual meetings available
Our company provides a variety of bilingual leaflet guidelines, depending on their relevance to the nature of the meetings in which the simultaneous translation resources and services are to be provided. These guideline handouts are not always issued, other than when specific information is provided to us (the company) beforehand on the precise type of meeting to which is to be held; on account of the many circumstancial differences encountered in the many different types of meetings. Special conditions for community groups available, dep ending on a variety of factors; being mindful that we are a commecial company that has never received a penny of grant aid from any source, and we are not therefore able to provide services at a financial loss. We have paid the full market price for all our equipment (unlike the language ventures, who have bought their equipment with grant aid, etc), and our equipment is constantly upgraded through heavy financial investments of money. It also needs to be understood that we employ trained, very qualified and highly experienced translators, who deserve to receive an honourable wage to reflect their professional standards; which means that our company is obliged to pay them substantially higher rates (1½ > 2) for providing their services on ‘unsociable' hours such as evenings and weekends.
